The leader of the communist party of the Philippines Jose Maria Sison announced on Tuesday that negotiators from the political arm of his rebel grouping were ready to resume peace talks with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration, after the Philippine leader appeared to leave the door open for a return to the negotiating table during a speech he made earlier that day.

Paliwanag ni Sison, di umano kasi basta-basta lalantad ang mga rebolusyunaryo at uuwi sa Pilipinas dahil sa naging karanasan ng NDF noong panahon ni dating Pangulong Cory Aquino kung saan hinuli at pinapatay ang mga komunista kaya’t kailangan munang pag-usapan ang amnestiya ng political prisoners.

Exiled communist leader Jose Maria Sison on Thursday welcomed the possible reopening of peace negotiations, and urged the government and rebel negotiators to formally convene soon to thresh out disputes hampering the resumption of the talks.

DAVAO CITY – Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison said the resumption of the peace talks between government (GRP) and National Democratic Front is necessary to thresh out substantive issues and deal with the complaints and expressed confidence they can achieve a “substantial success.”
