President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday threatened to kill Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Jose Maria Sison if the government’s proposed peace talks with the Left fail.

“Duterte is obsessed with establishing a fascist dictatorship a la (Ferdinand Marcos Sr.), his political idol, whose extrajudicial killings of around 3,500 over 14 years of autocratic rule he has already surpassed several times in only two years,” Sison said.

He will have all these from the time the Federal Transition Commission is created and composed under his absolute rule.

The CPP said the “recent propaganda blitzkrieg, orchestrated by Defense Sec. Delfin Lorenzana’s fraud-filled message in a vain attempt to discredit the Party and revolutionary forces, sow confusion and justify increasingly militarist and repressive measures against the people.”

“At this point in time, it is Duterte and his regime that needs the peace negotiation. It is not us. He needs something to recover to the… you know the downslide of the so-called popularity,” National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) chief negotiator Fidel Agcaoili said in a Skype conference.

Sison, now chief political consultant of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines, claimed that some AFP officers are concerned that President Rodrigo Duterte is a “traitor” who is “selling out” what has been won by the country in the 2011 arbitration case against China.
